At Risk Students Earn Credit By Assisting Elderly and Disabled Neighbors.

“What they really like is helping people. They really like giving back to people and meeting the person.”

A change in school curriculum is allowing at risk students at the Alternative Learning Center to gain PE credit by helping elderly and disabled people in their community tend their yards. For the past 2 weeks these students have been raking leaves, pulling weeds, cleaning gutters, and doing just about anything they need.

This alternative style of education is allowing the students to get physical exercise and help others at the same time.
